The JP set for Glastonbury 2019 was one of my favourites of the weekend. Class that afternoon

Was that the set they stepped in and filled for someone else?

I was surprised to see their name on the screens - but very very happy to see it.

Saw them 3 out of the 4 gigs that weekend.  Fantastic band

Met Grian standing in the crowd about 40m before they were on stage watching Goat Girl .

I think these will be in thinking for 2028 on a next album to headline, 2027 will probably be too soon but if they took 26 out to write a new album who knows. They aren't a headline spot this year but I think Glastonbury tried to be clever and sneak them in as a sub on a year whereby sales show it's a bit borderline of being above a sub/but not headline. They don't return. Without being top spot. They aren't for me but for the guitar/band music industry it's great to have them as an option going forwards.

It'll all depend on their next record. They are relentlessly touring, still, and that ends at the end of next summer. They've been prolific with writing, so I don't think it will be too long once they've had a break.

They turned down the sub-slot for 2025 because they believe they'll headline. I think they will too, but I'm bias. Very bias.

One of the headliners in 2027 or 2028, in my opinion, but time will tell.

I will say this - four months ago, I'd have not bought them as a future Pyramid headliner. For me, they were a sub at best, maybe an Other topper.

But the trajectory is there and credit to them for backing themselves. This isn't a Biffy Clyro-esque situation where the boat was missed entirely on trajectory.

But 2028 is a looooong way away. There's a good few acts currently big enough to top the bill - The 1975, curiously, are one for me, and Dave is another - that probably wouldn't get a nudge after the fallow year.

Me too, couldn't handle the late one. Also met him in John Peel watching summat or other. I told him they were really good. He said thank you. I said no problem and headed back with my pints. Transactionally satisfactory. 😄
