My top 5 (excluding Glastonbury appearances)
1. Fontaines DC / Wunderhorse - Berlin
2. Limp Bizkit - Dreamland Margate
3. Electric 6 - The Booking Hall, Dover
4. Sprints - Kentish Town Forum
5. Michael Kiwanuka - Przym, Kingston
Normally I'd have Idles at the top of any list, but I saw them in Brighton in December and it didn't get anywhere near my Glastonbury experience of watching them
IMO, there’s obviously more to it than ‘Neil decided to be against the thing that was obviously in play for weeks if not months earlier’. He’s being disingenuous at best.
Just a theory but maybe he took exception to the notion that he might step aside if a headliner they’d prefer to play would agree. I mean, it’s a reach but so are his comments about why “he” decided not to play.
Glastonbury would have to work hard to find someone who’ll get a smaller crowd than Young would have done. I say that as someone who was really hoping he’d do it. If he’s an acceptable headliner in terms of crowd size then so are e.g. Pulp
