Anyone know of a small West Midlands based festival in June 2025?

Second the recommendation for Beardy. Also not been, but have friends that love it and keep telling me I should go. Beautiful part of the country as well.
I’ll probably go during the 2026 fallow as the timing is too close to Glastonbury for me to be away from the family for both.

Thanks for the suggestion ukmountie, but I think I'm going to have to scratch that as a possible runner.

Hi Yog.

I would say that Bearded Theory is probably your best option, date wise.  I've not been yet but I know lots of people who love it and I'm planning on going 2027 as it's the Glasto fallow year.   They always have a good mid-level varied line up and next year's looks decent enough.   It's very popular with those who've been and has a good reputation for a community festival vibe.

If you can wait til September to celebrate that 60th, then Mucky Weekender would be the perfect place for a distinguished festival party veteran like yourself! 🙂

Thanks for the Mucky Weekender suggestion. I don't mind celebrating in September, and the festival looks great, so that's going into the 'possible' folder.

Bearded Theory (though technically the arse end of May) is the closest thing to Glasto I've been to...

Yes, I've heard that it's lose to Glastonbury in nature. It is also going into the melting pot of suggestions. It is definitely a festival that I would like to attend.

Another vote for Bearded, albeit it is right at the end of May.

Beardy is good if you like folk (I don't really, I went in 2020 and 2021 due to lack of alternatives and enjoyed myself but haven't felt the need to return since).  If you do go, be advised it has its own (bloody freezing) climate as it is about 2 miles above sea level.  (I may be exaggerating  but I have never been so cold at a festival).  I can't remember if you can take your own booze in but I do remember drinking some lovely Hobsons.

I know you are based in Shropshire, so you could delay your festival celebration until August and come along to Farmer Phil's.  Lovely tiny festival, though sadly doesn't allow your own booze any longer but beer is pub prices and admission is only £100 which includes a week's camping if you want to enjoy the Long Mynd before the festival.  So I don't mind paying for my beer on top.

Farmer Phil's is also going into the pot. Thanks Beerqueen

If it was up to me and if I had a fully functioning magic wand @Yoghurt on a Stick would be celebrating his birthday on the farm.

That's very nice of you to say Sawdusty, but Glastonbury really is too big a place for me now. Owing to certain indulgences I am very unfit, and just couldn't cope with the trekking around.

I'm assuming he doesn't know what these plans are, so you have to wonder, given a festival is what he wants to do, what do we think his family have booked that prevents him from booking a festival? I know what I'd have tried to book. 😉

I hope my hunch is right. 🤞

That's a nice notion but I know the existing plans don't involve a festival. That's about all I know though.

I would add another vote for considering Bearded Theory..

Its on the end of May Bank Holiday weekend, probably ideal location wise and attracts a 'more mature' clientele which makes for a very friendly vibe..

I have been to the last few and until last year they had been blessed with decent weather..

Yes, Bearded is in the pot. Thanks BlueDaze.

Oh that's a shame.

Then I agree with the others, 60 is an achievement you'll only reach once, you have to do what you want to do as well, so a month of celebration it is... Glad to see you've reached that decision anyway, hope you have a blast. 🙂

Will you be trying for the farm in the resale?

I very nearly got to Bearded Theory, but fell at the last hurdle. We even went as far as to have two tickets for it as well as a campervan ticket. We were very much all prepared to go. However, 2 years before that years Bleared Theory, me and my wife had booked this place (see below). It was at a time when we had more money than sense.

 https://www.landmarktrust.org.uk/search-and-book/properties/kingswear-castle-8737/#Overview

The thing is, we'd booked the place (and paid for it) two years before, and had forgotten all about it. And then we were suddenly hit with going to this castle for a few days and then going to Bearded straight after. Unfortunately the last section of that did not happen. We (my wife and two friends) were so indulgent at the castle that, at one point, I turned to my wife and asked her if I had died, and was this the afterlife 'We really did have a barmy (but thoroughly enjoyable) time while there.

The above made getting to Bearded totally impossible. It was such a shame because I had really wanted to go. Not only that but I never had the time to pass on the tickets for free to someone (you will be startled to know that I have done that successfully before with two separate year Glastonbury tickets).

I wish I'd have been there!!

Well, I haven't reached it yet. To be honest with what I have done it's amazing that I have got this far. I can only put it down to decent genes. My parents (and whole lineage) is from a costal area on the west coast of Ireland. There wasn't the abundance of processed foods that people are exposed to nowadays, so they ate healthily. Plenty of fish based omega 3 too. Well, that's my theory on why I'm still here, anyway. I mean it is amazing, as apart from a few holidays abroad I've taken a Class A every day for the last 15 or so years. It is not a path that I would advise others to take, but it has been my own conscious path. I may hit 60 but will ever reach 70, so 'Yes' maybe it is wise to have two bashes for my 60th.

I won't be going for any tickets in the resale. I really do think that my Glastonbury days are over. I wish I'd known that my last Glastonbury was going to be my last Glastonbury though. It really is a remarkable place. No other break or holiday provides that feeling of freedom. Well, to my mind's eye, anyway. Long live Glastonbury (AKA Brigadoon).
