We shall see - I hope I'm wrong and its just where some bands or artists see themselves as very much a media / publicity driven or even media designed product or commodity more so today than ever.
To be fair, the camera cutting to Jo Wiley singing Fix You in her little enclosure felt like something that hasn't happened before and is probably something that shouldn't proliferate much further.
Still don't see it as any more than a (very media savvy) band knowing how / choosing to make the best impression given the platform available to them. Probably yes also roping in the broadcaster to ensure things go well.

Ultimately it's still an artistic choice, even if it's not the "pure" artistry that some would like.
