A bit of background first!

I'm old school (we're talking old old) - Floyd, Zeppelin, Lizzy, Rush, Kansas, Magnum, etc. I lost my thang in the early eighties when it all went electro-pop and heavy went grunt, groan, gruff. I missed the Nineties rearing children. And then suddenly they were old enough to take to concerts!!!! So I started them on Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Motorhead, Madness, etc and then let them fly. The last five years I have spent getting to grips with the new(ish) bands I'd missed like Nirvana, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Ash, Feeder, Foos, RHCP, JEW, Muse, Coheed, Hives, etc.

Anyway, that still leaves a gulf of late Eighties and most of the Nineties that I need to catch up on. So without further ado, I have ploughed into the lists of 2007 possibles and started checking them out. Yesterday, I bought:

Alice in Chains - Dirt (listened once, love the vocals)

The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi (Quirky - will take a while)

The Flaming Lips - To Death in the Future Head (not listened yet)

The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin (ditto)

Incubus - Fungus Amongus (not listened yet)

Creed - Weathered (just sampled, love the vocals (inspired Nickleback I guess), worried could get samey)

Creed - Human Clay (ditto)

Creed - My Own Prison (am enjoying this)

Biffy Clyro - Infinity Land (not listened yet)

Sonic Youth - Sonic Youth (not listened yet. Haha, originally thought these would be 13/14 YO pop group!)

Arcade Fire - The Arcade Fire (emmmm! Might have been sold a pup here)

The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie .... (will probably love this)

The Smashing Pumpkins - Gish (not listened yet)

The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream (Ditto)

Ocean Colour Scene - Moseley Shoals (not listened yet but remember seeing a clip of a glasto appearance)

Deftones - Adrenaline (not listened yet)

What bands do you recommend an old rocker listen to, and is the above a representative sample of these groups' output? Any suggestions welcomed.
