I've just remembered a band I saw in the Bimble Inn, think it was about 2am on Fri night/Sat morning, consisted of 4 or 5 well rounded blokes all dressed in red as devils with the largest sat in the middle (with big beard) playing the drums & trying to look as angry as possible....was very very funny although the more I think about it the more I'm unsure it even happened.....had consumed a lot of cider by then......

Someone help & confirm they saw this lot as well?!!

After the epic-ness of Glasnostbury and Benicassim, EOTR made for an easy, leisurely weekend alternative, and was a great way to end off the fesitval season over here.

Highlights for me were, aside from the bands - of which there were many and all vvv good (It Hugs Back, Jeffrey Lewis, Jens Lekman, Monkey Swallows The Universe, SFA etc. etc. etc.) - the free bottles of Swedish pear cider thrown into the crowd late on the Sunday night/Monday morning in The Big Top Tent; finding Sesame's Treet by Smart E's on a Now compilation and playing it on the deck in the living room tent late on the Saturday night; and the best shout/comeback of weekend, nay possibly the whole summer during the (really reather wonderful it must be said) Young Republic's covers set in the local tent......

'Ok, now we're gonna play you a song written by, a possibly future convicted murderer'

'Who? Gerry McCann?'

(It was actually By My Baby by The Ronnettes, written by Phil Spector in case anyone was wondering)

Well it made me laugh!

This is William Detroit Maskin, now ready for hibernating til Coachella, see y'all in a field somewhere next year......

sorry about the whole forgetting to bring the flag to the meet....brain wasnt really working that day - too much of that cider i think

I had a great time at the festival all in all, highlights were Herman Dune, Broken Family Band, Josh T. Pearson, Charlie Parr, Seasick Steve. Thought Viking Moses was a bit of a let down though.

A few comments though, the Bimble Inn set up is not great, as in if you don't get in early you won't see the act, too much sitting down and taking up too much room. Went to Summer Sundae this year, and they had a similar tent, and the curator would come on before the bands and say "this act is going to be ace, you need to get on your feet for it", so more people can cram in then and the artist isn't performing to a load of sat down folks.

Also, some more food stalls please, and with cheaper varieties. And some bin/rubbish collectors? The site looked a mess for most of the time.

Don't want to sound too much like a whiner, I did really enjoy the whole atmosphere and will def be back for next year's effort.

site looked a mess?! i thought it was spotless!!!! yeah there was bin liners piled up next to the bin but at least it was controlled and waiting to be taken away - i didnt see any rubbish like cups or food trays anywhere...i thought EOTR did extremly well in keeping the festival clean and tidy, i just wish other festivals would do the same thing

I agree about the Bimble Inn, had to stand outside for a couple of artists I saw in there and with the drizzle coming down it wasn't great.

Re the food, did you taste the Pie Minister's pie's? Woweee, I had the lamb one and that would be enough to get me back there next year on its own! Agree though, everything was a standard £5-6 for food, but you kind of expect that and budget accordingly. The girls next to me didn't though, they were cooking up casseroles every night on their little stove. I'd do that if I could be bothered, but I can't. At Reading in 05 I sourced the cheapest festival eating ever, 2 big samosas for £2.80. EOTR could do with a baguette/baked potato stall tho, I missed my baked tattie. Oh, a pancake/crepe stall would be nice too...there werent enough sweet things, gotta keep your energy up at these festies after all. I think the thing to do is write or email to the organisers with suggestions.
