The Outsider Festival ’09 will take place on Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 June, 2009 and is part of the Homecoming Scotland celebrations. The Outsider is very pleased to announce the first batch of bands who will be taking to the stage at this year’s event. We will be announcing further artists in late April but we’re sure you’ll agree that the line-up so far promises to be a fantastic weekend of music: Sharleen Spiteri Drever, McCusker & Woomble The Fence Collective & very special guests King Creosote Malcolm Middleton James Yorkston Phantom Band Club Propaganda with very special guest DJs The Futureheads and Adam Ficek (Babyshambles) Lau We Were Promised Jetpacks Russell & Tam Dean Burn are ‘The Bum-Clocks’ Club Motherfunk with special guest DJ Chris Geddes (Belle & Sebastian) Karine Polwart Attic Lights Lots more bands and DJs along with a full activity programme will be announced in late April. The Outsider is the only festival in the UK that offers you a huge range of outdoor activities both inside and outside the arena, including the OutRunner, a 12k run around the stunning setting of Loch An Eilein, and the OutRider 4, a world-class mountain bike event, taking in some of the most magnificent scenery in Scotland. Both events have developed considerably from the Outsider in 2007 with the addition of the Rothie Relay, a 4 lap relay run which follows part of the 12k route (each lap is approx 5/6K), which allows you to take part as a team with your mates or family, and the Outsider Duathlon for those wishing to participate in both the run and ride events over the weekend. Registration is required to participate in each of these events, booking of which is available on the tickets page of our website only: www.outsiderfestival.co.uk Full programme details will be released soon but expect: The Outsider Forum - a programme of guest speakers, topical talks and fascinating debate. Outsider Film – a programme of specially selected classic cinema. Outsider Comedy – the very best in new comedy talent with some very special guests. Outsider Active - offering a huge range of outdoor pursuits including river rafting, nature walking, orienteering, mountain climbing, bush craft, stargazing and loads more. Outsider Food & Drink Village - A selection of fantastic produce from the Cairngorms National Park and across Scotland. All our tasty, gorgeous food and drink will be carefully selected, sourcing local and organic produce when possible and always top quality. This is also a good time to remind you that there are only a few days left for Earlybird booking. Time is running out as tickets go full price on Tuesday 14 April. A weekend ticket is currently only £50 for Earlybirds, which we reckon is about the best value festival ticket in the country.
