FESTIVAL HEADLINER TO BE REVEALED

By Lorraine Parker - Friday, November 23, 2007

IT'S not U2, it’s not Led Zeppelin, it’s not Pink Floyd and it’s not Madonna, but the act to top next year’s IW Festival bill will be revealed on Monday morning.

The Sunday headliner announcement will be made on Virgin Radio, the County Press website and IW Radio at 8am.

Festival organiser John Giddings said he also hopes to announce ticket release dates and, if all goes to plan, the Friday and Saturday night headliners will be revealed before tickets go on sale.

Mr Giddings has categorically ruled out appearances by U2, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Madonna.

He said: “Just because I am associated with some of these bands, people automatically think they will come to the festival but they are not necessarily festival-type acts. They are not coming next year.”

Meanwhile, Mr Giddings said the Festival First loyalty ticket scheme was already proving a success with thousands of festival-goers already signed up.

The priority booking scheme gives revellers the opportunity to guarantee themselves two tickets for the IW Festivals in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

They will also get their own designated festival site entrance and exclusive offers on merchandise for £75.

This week a family Festival First ticket was also introduced for two adults and three sibling children under 12, with membership costing £100.

However, he warned this weekend was probably the last chance for people to secure theirs.
