Because relationships take effort and compromise and understanding and doing things you don't want to do. It's more than just picking something you think you might like from a shelf.

I agree with worm that relationships do take effort, but I also agree with goblinz, coz they shouldnt be about 1 person making all the effort yet still coming up against a brick wall (or a dickhead bloke/bird, as the case may be). If it seems like that then its probably not the right person for you.

Agreed. With effort I don't mean the odd argument. I mean effort to keep the relationship going.

If your doing things to make the other person happy or to feel wanted then it's different. Going out and doing those things should be a pleasure, something that you get as much out of as the other person because you are making them happy.
