Speaking of handling, does anyone have the racing wheel set for the 360? I'm thinking of getting one (addicted to PGR4 at the mo) I take it it's fully compatible with PGR4? (I know it included a revised copy of PGR3 implying that it wouldn't work with the original?)

Been playing lots of codemned 2 and it scares the sh*t out of me!

you can buy mine if you like thom, I bought one for forza, and whilst its great, I still prefer the pad, dunno how well it performs with pgr4, but I'm assuming that the great job pgr4 did with everything else, its not gonna be too shabby.

I was gonna put it on ebay, but havent got round to it yet, its yours for £30, and whatever the postage is, which wont be tiny. Its been used for about 4 hours tops.

Mario Kart was waiting for me when i got home last night so me and wee insomniac had a quick blast.

It's basically the DS version with a bit of tweaking to the boost. If you want to get anywhere in it, you need to have Manual sliding/boosting turned on. Automatic slide is for complete newbies, like for people who havent even played a game before. Decent or even just casual gamers should pretend it isn't even an option.

It is harder to snake (boosting constantly due to continuous powersliding, even on straights) than the DS version, but still entirely possible on almost all of the tracks. I tried. It works. It takes a longer slide to get the boost ready, but apart from that, snaking is pretty easy, it's all about timing.

After a couple of goes I nailled the boost at the start. It's right after 2.

Also when Lakitu fishes you out of the water you can still do the quick boost by hitting A the moment you hit the floor, like in the DS version.

Managed to unlock King Boo and Diddy Kong, Diddy was cool. Not tried Boo yet.

The wheel works fine, but in order to get the high star rankings I had to plug in the classic controller, which works brilliantly. In this mode it's just like the DS version. Still, managed to clear most of the 50cc class with a two star rank. The thing with the wheel is that it suffers from the same affliction of all Wii games so far - sometimes a movement just won't register. When you need to flick the wheel to perform a trick or wheelie, not having a movement register makes you really want to switch to a controller just so it's available with a button press.

The wheel should be mandatory for multiplayer though. When everyone else is on the same level it'd be awesome. Against the AI and going for high ranks - using a normal controller is the only way to be pin sharp accurate on getting those power slides just right.

Went online, against the world. Won a few races. Won a few battles. This game is great.

dunno what everyone online has been panicking about? I walked into game yesterday and reserved a copy, I'll be picking it up this morning. I had assumed by people saying "no more pre orders" that there was going to be a shortage, but the guy in game said "I think we have bought too many"

looking forward to it tonight.

Ain't it just, only had a quick play around on 50cc mode (on automatic I'm ashamed to add!) as I went out last night, will be having a proper go tonight. Haven't added anyone as a friend yet as this is my first online Wii game, but if you PM me whatever details I need to add you we'll have a game sometime

Something tells me I'm gonna be two-star ranked forever. Three stars is just so f*cking hard, and it gets to a point where it really depends on sheer luck. On the DS version there were about two or three cups left that were still on two stars, and everyone of them was near impossible to get to three.

I assume like the DS version when you achieve one star on all cups a star will appear when you online. If you have two or three stars on all cups you get two or three stars next to your name online.

There are several conditions you have to meet. Things like never hitting an obstacle (banana, falling into a pit, hitting lava or static objects left on the track) and coming first on every lap in every race and getting a boosted start. Er, I think. Which means on that God damn Rainbow Road you have sweet f-all chance on 150cc.

Oh yeah, Rainbow Road looks absolutely gorgeous. Imagine the previous ones mashed together, the N64's versions massive dive at the start, the DS's skatepark vibe etc, then throw a load of Tooty Fruitys and Lucky Charms at the screen.
