It really has been coming, but it still sucks for the staff. There are 5 Game stores in Edinburgh alone that are relatively close to one another, so I can see a few of those closing before the end of the day.

Reward and gift cards have been suspended by Game. I can understand the reward cards, but suspending gift cards seems harsh. At least give people a chance to spend gift card money if it's been given as a gift or something!

I used to work there. Mad that a company can start, become massive, open 1300 stores and then go totally tits up in the space of 20 years.

not mad at all - it's about the standard for modern capitalism. Little regard is made towards actual profitability and every regard is made towards expanding as quickly as possible.

The result is a company built on massive debts, and when any slight downturn happens it becomes impossible to support those debts. The owners meanwhile have got incredibly rich on the prospect of the future profitability which never actually happens, and the losses are left with the mug punters who were seduced by the prospect of those future massive profits that never actually come about.

It's a Thatcherism standard. All bullshit and no substance. Take the money and run. Etc, etc, etc.

Growth at any cost. Every time I hear the word "Growth" on the news I question why everything has to keep on growing. What's wrong with a stable economy that works (not that we have one at the moment though)? Why does it have to keep on growing?

And don't get me started on the word "Progressive"

Gutted if Gamestation has suspended reward points, have like £12 on my card thing. Wanted to spend it last week but they had no Vita games / cases in stock except for some poo ones, so I left it instead. Should of bought Motorstorm RC and something else downloadable instead. Or PSN credit. Wasn't thinking, doh. Hopefully someone buys them and honours the points, but I doubt it.

Wonder if the Nottingham store has shut down too.

Will be interesting to see how things go with this.

Wii U out in USA November 18th. WAAAY too late, all developers are saying its not even as powerful as a PS3 or 360. WTF? This console is dead in the water already.

Nintendo are fucking stupid man, they don't learn from their mistakes, end of the day Ninty had a great gimmick last time, this time they don't, X Box are doing it better with Kinect, and already have same graphics as Wii U will offer, gamers know Ninty can offer 1st party and fuck all else, I can see this being Ninty's last home console and them just doing handhelds in future.

the lamest defence of the console world. what was the attach rate?

the games were fucking shite, and non existent. you could probably count on 2 hands the games that were worth owning. that is an abysmal record.

i remember when nintendo stood for massive gameplay, not fetid shovelware. lowest common denominator gaming for the "casual gamer". short termism. the wii-u will bomb imho.

its isnt even clear what it is yet, and it launches in 6 months or so?

just having another playthrough of Halo : Reach on legendary.

1. you forget how brilliant halo is,

2. you forget how fucking rock hard "legendary" is.

and my ebay copy of Halo CE Anniversary Edition has just arrived, i never actually played it properly back in the day, so I'm quite excited.

I've never actually played any halo games, even though I picked up 3 and reach cheap recently, just never got around to playing them

seriously fella, the AI is amazing, and the games are so well put together. the variety between the enemies is fantastic. i havent come across any brutes in reach so far, and tbh i dont remember there being any in reach, they are awesome. there are a lot of elites in reach, and they are motherfuckers.

i would definitely recommend a playthrough of H3 first, play on normal or heroic, then go through it again on legendary and the difference is staggering. its a completely different game.

the thing that is hard to get your head around is the shield system, you need to shoot and shoot and shoot to take the bigger enemies shields down, then another shot to remove the head armour, then another to finish them off. the elites know this and take cover to let their shields recharge, re-emerging when they know they are safe. bastards they are.

and they WILL flank you, there is always either just enough, or just too little ammo in any given situation, you really have to think about every firefight.

if you havent played a halo game properly, you really need to.

Cheers, I'll have a look at halo 3 over the weekend, I've never played halo at all, obviously I've heard nothing but good things about it but it's just one of them games I never got around to buying.

What's the multiplayer like, is it still played a lot?

I take it it's one of them games like call of duty, battlefield etc that I would just get destroyed as a noob playing it now?
