I've attended Syd For Solen a few times and not Oya.
Syd For Solen is a young festival. Only been running a few years and it has teething problems in organisation. Last year (2024l they moved to a new site that usually doesnt host events of this scale and there was a ton of issues on the first day (headlined by Fred Again) in overcrowding, huge queues, few toilets, lack of space to chill out, food vendors running out of food etc. Tons of complaints from attendees. I went again on the third day (Jack White) and alot of the issues were sorted out but I heard the day had only sold 60% of tickets compared to the first day so much more manageable in crowd size.
I'd say Oya would be the better choice as has been running longer and more established. If Syd For Solen wasn't on my doorstep then I would probably make that choice too. 🙂
I think he said 48 on the main stages and the others on the small stages.
Still, plenty of good stuff to be announced i'm guessing. Kind of sad now when i looked at the lineup that i already decided and booked my two festivals for the summer. It looks like a great year to be back at Paredes de Coura.
still makes me laugh when i think of seeing him the other year - it was so hot that day as to be almost unbearable... and he was up there on stage in this massive leather jacket... no idea how he didn't pass out with the heat!
