Turts
Go to Costco and buy their portable cool box for £25. Holds 100 cans and guarantees to keep them cold for 7 days...
hallamboy
I'm sure we haven't had a thread on this subject for a few years now. Just the fact it is back as a topic of conversation is reaffirming my belief that is going to be a glasto scorcher. A 'water the roads to keep the dust down' year, if you will! r0cky
If you want ice cold drinks, then you need ice. At some Festivals I take a huge highly insulated coolbox rated for at least 5-days in 30C, put in some 2litre frozen water bottles, and after 5-days they are still frozen. Look at Igloo MaxCold for example. I generally buy drinks from WBC bars, which have expensive cooling systems, image is from glasto-worker taken at the Reading festival. Staberinde
Wouldn't you be better to stick your beer/towel combo in the shade? I know that the water will evaporate quicker in the sun but that's only because it gets hotter, which isn't what you want.
halvin
Believe it or not no It's the heat that is used to evaporate that pulls the equivilant ammount of heat out of the can. Or maybe I'm talking rubbish - it has been known
Pubix Rube
I've heard the evap-cooly thing works by popping your beer cans in thick, soggy socks. Might be easier than towels? Edited May 8, 2008 by Pubix Rube
stevieweevil
for some reason beers seem to stay magically cold just by leaving them in my tent... well not cold but certainly not warm either!

halvin
In the event of all water failing on site cos it's such a scorchio, do you think sweaty socks would work just as well ?
ollyrag
You'd just need very sweaty feet to properly soak the socks.

laid back in the sun
the wet towel technique it is then unless anyone has any other suggestions.... i do have a fridge for the car which is fine for festivals wer u can park beside ur tent but dont fancy walkin to the car everytime i want a cool tin. my prediction for a scorcher is based on the weather in '95.... tribal gathering '95 on may 6th was an absolute scorcher as was may the 6th this year.... glastonbury '95 was also as hot as the sahara so this year should be a repeat if past weather patterns r anythin to go by... well thats my reckoning anyway lol
alphamaing
Hi, Best way(if you`ve enough trolley room) is to get a car battery/inverter/travel fridge, the inverter connects to the battery boosting the 12v to 240v and voila!!!!cold beer/wine anything you frickin want.......aftersun anyone
Kernow Ledge
I don't drink lager so I really dont' care if I have slightly warm beer (and as for cold Ale - I don't think so blackadder!!)
