Metallica to headline Download?

It looks like the Download Festival - which returns to Donington Park, Leicestershire over the weekend of 5th/6th June 2004 - is likely to have Metallica as one of the headline bands.

Their published tour dates show they're in Europe at that time, and have both the days free currently. They made an unannounced appearance on the second stage at this years Download.

It's likely that no acts will be confirmed before the new year. We'll of course bring you all the information when available.
