Download Festival - which takes place from Friday 9th until Sunday 11th June 2006, at Donington Park, Leicestershire - has announced another act for this year.

Going under the name of Guns N' Roses, Axl will be bringing his Slash-less band to Download as one of the headliners, for their only UK show this year.

Guns N’ Roses’ vocalist Axl Rose said, “The UK and Europe have always been special for me. After our last great shows there, we are all very excited and looking forward to getting back over there and in front of such great audiences. Donington has always meant a lot to me personally, way before I ever played there. To be asked to headline is for me an honour and a privilege that none of us take for granted. We look forward to seeing all of you at Download!”

Festival director Stuart Galbraith is proud to say, "For Guns N' Roses to play at Download, 18 years after their last performance at Donington will be amazing. Adding this to Metallica’s confirmation is a dream. Originally we would have been happy to have one of these great bands to headline Download 06, but to be able to secure both is just awesome."

Will the crowd be going Chinese Demo Crazy or will they have nodded off having waited hundreds of years for something new? Will he manage to play on time, and the band in time? These questions will be definitively answered in June.

They join the acts already announced, which are Metallica, The Prodigy, Korn, Deftones, Trivium, Clutch, and Bullet For My Valentine. More acts will be confirmed over the coming weeks and months, to a full line-up of around 100 metal and rock bands over the three days.

Tickets are on sale, priced at £115 for the three days, or £135 including camping and parking. Campevrans cost £35, and parking is £5 in advance or £10 on the day. Click here to buy online now.
