The organisers of Creamfields have introduced the Cream Music Fund, designed to inspire and assist musically gifted people in the North West area.

The Cream Music Fund is providing a total sum of £25,000 to two initiatives: The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) and Halton Arts Development team, which will jointly be the first to benefit.

James Barton, Cream CEO has commented "The North West is a region famous for many things but predominantly music. We feel there are a few ‘gems’ that either slip through the net or are forced to pursue a different path because of their social circumstances. We want to provide easy and accessible assistance for these people to give their true passion a chance."

LIPA has clear aims and objectives for the fund. Firstly to encourage musical talent from the Merseyside region and secondly to raise music awareness through a series of outreach workshops.

Halton Arts Music Development officer, Martin Cox added: "We are really pleased that Creamfields has shown an active interest in supporting music development in Halton. We hope the pilot project this year, which will target young musicians, will lead to an ongoing relationship which will provide a range of exciting initiatives in the future."

The Cream Music Fund monies have been collected from VIP ticket holder donations at previous Creamfields.

Creamfields - which this year moves to a new site at the Daresbury Estate, Halton, Cheshire takes place on Saturday 26th August (the Bank Holiday weekend).
