This week in most years 150,000 Glastofarians will have rising excitement, bags will be packed, weak excuses given to work for sickies, and weather forecasts become the most interesting thing in the world. But this year there's no Glastonbury and despite grand claims by some other festivals, nothing else comes close; we'll just have to keep dreaming for next year. And talking of next year ...
From our sources, Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis said around a month ago that he's booked "the biggest band ever for next year and nobody will guess who they are". But do we have to guess?
In an item dated 16th June, The Who's guitarist Pete Townsend says on his website "Tonight is the first show after an exhausting rehearsal schedule, and kicks off a tour that will last slightly over a year if I get my wish to end it next year at Glastonbury. Now that will be the show to watch. We should be warmed up by then."
Have we been fooled again? Probably not!
