Glastonbury Festival has announced the details of its 'Competition for Emerging Talent 2007', which gives new acts the chance to play at Glastonbury Festival.

Four winning acts will be given the chance to play on the Acoustic, Jazzworld, and John Peel Stages and in the Dance Village with the overall winner of the four also given the opportunity to play the Other Stage. Previous years of the competition have also seen a number of the entering acts given the chance to play on other stages around the festival.

From the competition entrants, the best will be chosen to attend one of two live finals in Pilton, Somerset at the end of March 2007, with the winners going on to play at the Festival. Winners in previous years have included The Subways, who've gone on to great success!

It costs £11.75 for each act to enter, with this fee ensuring that each act is properly listened to, letting the music do the talking. The competition is only open to acts based in the UK and Ireland who don't have a recording deal with a major label, or a deal for more than one album with another label, plus only to bands to have never played on one of the five stages used in the competition.

It's hoped by Glastonbury Festival that it may be possible for bands to submit their entries digitally in the near future, but currently it's only possible to enter by post. Click here for some more details on the competition, and here for the competition entry form. Good luck!
