The organisers of T in the Park are to launch a new, smaller festival at Inveraray Castle, Loch Fyne, Argyll, with it set to take place on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September.

Called 'Connect', it will be aimed at an older and more affluent audience than T in the Park, with acts such as Belle & Sebastian, Radiohead and Beck all considered appropriate for the sort of event being planned.

With the capacity set at 20,000, it's planned to have a main outdoor stage, plus two tented stages, as well as food from local suppliers such as oysters and locally-caught salmon in place of the more normal festival fodder of greasy dog burgers and noodles. It's expected that the first acts will be announced early in the new year, and that tickets will go on sale in February.

DF Concerts Geoff Ellis said "We're delighted to be able to confirm Connect's location today in one of the most beautiful settings I've ever seen. We are very much looking forward to working with the Duke of Argyll and his team at Inverary Castle to deliver what will be a truly unique event not just for Scotland but for the UK as a whole."

There's been a number of new, smaller contemporary music festivals launched in Scotland over the past few years, with Belladrum Tartan Heart, Isle of Skye, Indian Summer, and Loopallu all making an impact. It's a shame that Connect has settled on the same weekend for next year as was used for the first Indian Summer festival this year, when so many other weekends were available for a new Scottish festival that wouldn't have clashed with other Scottish events.

eFestivals will of course bring you more information when available.
