£35 each day, or £60 for both

Lovebox Weekender, which takes place in London's Victoria Park on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd July, has announced that legendary act Sly & the Family Stone are to headline the Saturday night.

eFestivals had a small hand in this. We recently posed a question to someone who works for Lovebox as well as Glastonbury, trying to find out if Sly & the Family Stone were the act from 35 years ago that Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis had been on about (it wasn't). This alerted Lovebox to the fact that Sly & the Family Stone were back in business.

Sly & the Family Stone are one of music's true innovators: the band that championed black and white integration and fused soul and rock music with psychedelia, releasing seminal albums 'Fresh' and 'Stand!' and timeless songs such as 'Everyday People', 'Dance To The Music' and 'Family Affair'. This will be the first time Sly has played with the band in the UK since 1987 and what's more the line-up includes many of the original roster such as Lisa Stone and Cynthia Robinson.

Lovebox's Music Programme Director Rob Wood says: "Lovebox is all about collating exhilarating new talent with the original musical legends who have inspired and influenced both us and the acts we are showcasing. We're doing this across all the music scenes that excite us. Sly & The Family Stone always stood for racial and musical integration and is therefore the perfect addition for a festival which is all about bringing together creative talent from around the world to the heart of multicultural London."

Acts playing at Lovebox include Groove Armada (live), The B-52's, Blondie, Super Furry Animals, Toots and the Maytals, The Rapture, Hot Chip, Nouvelle Vague, Tinariwen, Ojos De Brujo, Ska Cubano, Digitalism, Layo & Bushwacka!, Mr C, Buraka Som Sistema, and more - click here for all the details to date.

Tickets are on sale now priced £35 per day or £60 for both days - click here to buy.
