Today there's conflicting stories about Led Zeppelin and a possible world tour.

According to reports, a "friend" of the band is saying that Led Zeppelin are putting together an 18 month world tour, that will start with them playing at next year's Glastonbury Festival.

Conflicting with this are reports in Billboard magazine where drummer Jason Bonham - son of original drummer John - says that calls for more shows are "greedy", and indicates that he's not aware of any future plans.

Speculation of touring plans had dampened down in the last few weeks, following the announcement of frontman Robert Plant's touring plans with American country star Alison Krauss with whom he's released an album, with that tour finishing next May.

While Glastonbury boss Michael Eavis told eFestivals several months ago that Led Zeppelin were "too expensive", time has passed since then with the band having played their scheduled one-off show at London's O2 Arena, and various reports supposedly from band members about the possibility of more shows sometime in the future. Having Led Zeppelin perform would of course be a major coup for the festival.

If Glastonbury doesn't have Led Zeppelin booked then it would perhaps be sensible for them to put out a statement to that effect, to ensure that they won't get over-run with people as happened in years past and which put the future of the festival at risk. However, Glastonbury's standard policy is to neither confirm or deny any speculation about any particular band, and they may chose to stick to that policy; no denial does not mean it's true.

Don't forget to keep an eye on our Glastonbury 2008 rumours. In 2007, eFestivals was first to say who the headliners were, and we had every act but one correct for the main stage (which were copied word-for-word by the likes of nme.com and others), every act for the Jazzworld stage, plus hundreds of other acts all listed correctly long before the official line-up announcement. A huge thank you to everyone who helped us compile such a comprehensive and accurate list.

Glastonbury Festival 2008 will take place from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th June, with the gates opening on Wednesday 25th. Details on how to purchase Glastonbury tickets are expected to be announced early in the new year.
