Kid Rock has revealed the truth behind his cancelled headline performance at the Download Festival in June this year, saying that the festival organisers lied when they said he cancelled his scheduled appearance because he was suffering from dehydration.

The rocker scrapped his performance at Download just minutes before he was due to take to the Main Stage, and it was reported he was rushed to hospital suffering from stomach cramps and dehydration and was kept in hospital overnight for observation.

But Rock, real name Robert Ritchie, said the festival bosses' statement why he didn't appear was lies and insists he pulled out of the show after promoters failed to provide his band with adequate backstage provision.

The rock star said in the Daily Star newspaper (here), "They (festival bosses) treated me like f**k. There was just one trailer for my whole band. We had no water, no bathroom, no rider. The final straw was when they wouldn't give my crew any food or drinks vouchers."

The star whose hit 'All summer Long' put him at the top of the UK charts for the first time insists he warned promoters he would pull out if his needs were not catered for and then reacted badly to their snubs.

He adds, "I called the promoter and told him he had two hours to get it sorted or I was out. They did nothing so I visited the promoter's office, took a piss on his couch and left."
