Tickets are on sale now for The Big Green Gathering which is the highlight of the annual calendar for thousands of members, activists and supporters of the Green movement.

Britain's largest green festival has announced the dates for 2009 as Wednesday 29th July until Sunday 2nd August (subject to licence). The popular five day family, camping event will return after a year off in 2008 to the Mendip Hills, near Cheddar, Somerset.

A limited number of early bird tickets are available at special prices for those that book early. An adult five day camping pass is priced at £115, Concessionary tickets are £90 and child (10-17) tickets are priced at £45. Children under the age of 10 are free. A car park pass is priced at £30, a motor cylce pass is £5, campervan pass (up to 5 metres) £45, extra for campervans 5m+ (£5/m) £5, caravan £30, and disabled parking is free.

The fun event has a serious message about our environment and showcases sustainable lifestyles, and promises to be bigger and better with all the old favourites plus some new innovations. Penny Kemp, Director of the Big Green Gathering said, "It's the ultimate low carbon holiday. We are able to show people how they can reduce their carbon footprint in a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. We are also in discussion with the Eden Project and plans are afoot to have an Eden area in 2009."

The festival is divided into several themed zones, each contributing to a vision of sustainable living, combined with music and entertainment, alternative theatre, carnival, a sustainable homes area, and even gardening with the Permaculture area offers workshops and talks.

The Big Green Gathering Forum is a debating tent, where festival goers can engage with environmental experts on issues of the day. The highlight will be the Big Green Gathering Question Time, which has previously featured such luminaries as, former Environment Minister, Michael Meacher, Tony Juniper, Executive Director of Friends of the Earth, Caroline Lucas MEP, BBC's Ethical Man, Justin Rowlatt and It's Not Easy Being Green's, Brigit Strawbridge.

The Big Green Gathering has a GAMA (green access and mobility area) field which ensures that all members of society have equal access to the festival.
