The Malagasy Government reports that in Madagascar only 27% of the population has safe water and 36% have adequate sanitation. For the majority of the 17.3million people who live in Madagascar, the lack of access to safe water and sanitation has a severe impact on health and livelihood. Malaria, diarrhea, dysentery and respiratory diseases are common place in rural Madagascar and millions of work and school days are lost each year because of illness.

eFestivals supports WaterAid. We donate 1% of our turnover (turnover, not profit) to charities each year with the major beneficiary being WaterAid.

WaterAid work in 17 countries providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene education to some of the world's poorest people, www.wateraid.org.uk.
