The Great Escape have announced the first salvo of acts for this year's Brighton based event.

Metronomy
The first names for the line-up includes techno-poppers Metronomy, rock ravers Kissy Sell Out, the irrepressible melodies of Esser, indie rockers Future Of The Left, Alec Empire guitarist Robbie Furze's project The Big Pink, psychedelic electro band Passion Pit, and the experimental manoeuvres of Micachu And The Shapes.

Also confirmed today are It Hugs Back, VV Brown, Ben Kweller, Johnny Foreigner, Dananananaykroyd, Let's Wrestle, The Chapman Family, Your Twenties, Golden Silvers, Bell X1, Kasms, The Soft Pack, and An Experiment On A Bird In The Air Pump.

The Great Escape will also see appearances from Vivian Girls, Middle Class Rut, Pulled Apart By Horses, A Grave With No Name, Tin Can Telephone, Yves Klein Blue, The John Steel Singers, The Joy Formidable, To The Bones, Cassie & The Cassettes, and Fanzine.

Martin Elbourne, Creative Director and Co-Founder said in a statement, "This is the fourth edition of the great escape. It is now the most important showcase event in the world and its great that is takes place in the UK and in one of its coolest cities. Apart from the UK we are now getting all the best new acts from round the world playing at the event. Our track record of discovering new great bands is awesome."

With many more acts to be announced this is just the first confirmed acts with hundreds of international and UK pop, cutting edge, hip hop, electronic, and rock acts showcased at venues all over Brighton from Thursday 14th until Saturday 16th May.

The Great Escape is an international live music event; a festival of over 300 acts from across the globe performing at about 25 venues within Brighton City Centre. The Great Escape Festival utilising the spaces that Brighton has to offer. The main activity will be focused around the "Level" and the seafront, with some larger venues helping to reduce any queuing. The venues will all be a close walk from each other with each venue equipped to an international showcase standard.
