Poet Laureate on the bill at Wychwood joined by new music acts

plus Robin Ince, and film directors confirmed

The first ever female Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy will be performing on Sunday with John Sampson at this month's Wychwood Music Festival. There are also more rising stars added to the line-up of new musical confirmations, as well as the Friday night comedy headliner, and a mouth watering line-up of film directors.

The new bands added to the bill include Sonido Callejero, Shtetl Superstars, Josh Vizor, The Black Bloc, Sleeping With The Fishes, and Witches who will open up the Main Stage on Sunday.

Stand-up comedian, actor and impressionist Robin Ince has also been confirmed as the Friday night headliner in the Comedy Tent sponsored by eFestivals.

For those festival goers who don't want to miss the FA Cup Final, which takes place on the Saturday of Wychwood this year, The Cinema will be showing the match. Over the weekend the cinema will be offering, in conjunction with The University of Gloucestershire, Music Videos and Music Documentaries and films from their Viewfinder Film Festival. There will be Children's Short Films and Animations, classics like Carnival of Souls, Africa Screams and Little Shop of Horrors, presentations from Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, including Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Roald Dahl.

One of the leading directors of music documentaries and historical dramas, Tony Palmer will also be at Wychwood, presenting some if his classic films he's made for the likes of The Beatles, Cream, Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa. Joining him on the bill are directors David Aspinall, and Lewis Arnold.

They join the line-up of musical entertainment that includes the headliners for Friday are Super furry Animals, Saturday is Supergrass, and Sunday is Dub Colossus. Confirmations so far also include Dhol Foundation, The Beat, Cara Dillon, Bellowhead, Kissmet, The Men They Couldn't Hang, Red Light Company, The Wonder Stuff, Oysterband, John Jones, and Justin Adams with Juldeh Camara, with many more still to be announced. There's also comedy with Mundo Jazz, Arthur Smith, Sol Bernstein, Matt Barnard, Phil James, and Daniel Bland, with more to come. For the line-up details as available please click here.

The family friendly festival is now in its fifth year and takes place on Friday 29th May to Sunday 31st May 2009 at Cheltenham Racecourse, Prestbury Park, in Gloucestershire.

Tickets for Wychwood are on sale, priced at £110 for the weekend, with concessions costing £85, and up-to two under-12s FREE (extra under-12s £10 each), and a campervan/caravan pass is £30.
Day tickets are also available:
Friday: adult ticket is priced at £35, youth/concession £22.
Sunday: adult ticket is priced at £40, youth/concession £27.
Children under 12 tickets for any day are free.
