The stripped-down 'Tap' trio of Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer will be rocking the Festival 'Unwigged and Unplugged'.

Twenty-five year's ago as David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel and Derek Smalls, they appeared in the cult comedy classic film 'This Is Spinal Tap', showcasing tunes like 'Big Bottom' and 'Listen to the Flower People' but out of character, as themselves.

Christopher Guest better known to 'Tap' fans as Nigel Tufnel said in the online interview, "We originally thought about doing a full-blown 'Tap' tour this year to mark the 25th anniversary of the film's release. But that would have been a very big deal in terms of show production, requiring a lot of effects, two 18-wheelers full of equipment, a tour bus. To be honest, we couldn't get that together. But we will do a couple of 'Tap' shows in Britain, at Wembley Arena and the Glastonbury Festival."

The band last reformed in 2007 to play the Live Earth Concert at Wembley Stadium to show their support for Global Warming. In turn they performed a new song they had written just for the occasion 'Warmer Than Hell'.

The band's appearance at this year's Festival has not been officially confirmed by Festival organisers.

Tickets have sold out for this year's Glastonbury Festival which runs throughout the five full days from Wednesday 24th until Sunday 28th June 2009 at Worthy Farm, Somerset.

The only acts officially confirmed so far to play at the festival are Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band as Saturday night headliner, with Blur and Neil Young as the other headliners, plus Kasabian, Doves, White Lies, Echo and the Bunnymen, Fleet Foxes, Emiliana Torrini, Florence & The Machine, Lily Allen, The Ting Tings, and Franz Ferdinand.

This year's full Glastonbury line-up won't be announced until the end of the month. To see who has been confirmed, and who might be playing take a look at the eFestivals' Glastonbury 2009 rumours >>.
