The Membranes have been asked by My Bloody Valentine, the curators All Tomorrows Parties - Nightmare Before Christmas to reform for a special appearance.
The Membranes the Eighties post-punk noisenik band fronted by John Robb have been asked by festival host My Bloody valentine to play on the Friday night of the festival held from Friday 4th until Sunday 6th December 2009 at Butlins Resort, Minehead, Somerset.
The Membranes who took a break in 1990 have accepted the offer from the band that supported them in the late Eighties. The band were formed in Blackpool in 1977 by the 16-year-old John Robb and a couple of younger friends. Fired by punk rock and the DIY ethic. Their mid Eighties full on live performances with a high energy, ecstatic, noise assault- combined melancholy with euphoria and frustration in a series of records that won them considerable critical acclaim.
They are the latest band confirmed to join a line-up that includes My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, De La Soul, EPMD, Sun Ra Arkestra, Dirty Three, Buzzcocks, Spectrum, Fucked Up, The Horrors, The Pastels, J Mascis & The Fog, The Lilys, A Place To Bury Strangers, and more. For the line-up details as available please click here.
Tickets for this event are almost sold out and room only accommodation is only available in 4 berth rooms (price £150 per ticket).
