Glastonbury Festival organisers have submitted a new licence application for Glastonbury Festival to change the licensing conditions until 2016.

The current licence would only have covered this year's festival and if granted by Mendip District Council, the new licence would cover the Festival until 2016, and allow for the event to be held in 2011, taking 2012 as a fallow year.

The application to Mendip District Council asks for early arrivals to be able to park up from 9.00pm on the Tuesday. Campervan and caravan areas would be open from noon on Tuesday. All vehicles must be off the site by 5.00pm on the Monday, with an extra car parking for 5,400 cars also made available.

The new plans also propose a new access road to the site, with a new peak time access route from the east will be created. It will run from a location 350m south of the Bath & West Showground off the A37 and is hoped to take up to 800 cars per hour.

The proposed new licence will also see more space freed up for camping with an extra 30 acres of camping space made available along with and extra 1000 caravan spaces.

Another notable change in the licence would be stopping performances on the three main stages (The Pyramid, Jazz World and Other Stage) at midnight but allowing slightly increased volumes. Smaller stages will be able to operate until 12.30am as at present, and The Park stage will have acts performing on it from the Thursday.

Details of the application are available at Mendip District Council offices and representations from interested parties and responsible authorities have to be made by Wednesday 20th January 2010.

The application will only be considered by councillors if it is felt that the licence is substantially different to the existing licence, with a decision due by the middle of February.

Tickets have sold out for this year's Glastonbury Festival which runs for five full days from Wednesday 23rd until Sunday 27th June 2010 across over a 1,000 acres of beautiful countryside at Worthy Farm, Somerset. eFestivals believes the next sale of tickets will be sometime from the beginning of March, we will of course keep you updated of any news in the meantime.

Only headliners U2, and breaking talent My Luminaire, and John E Vistic are confirmed for the Festival. eFestivals will bring you the very best-sourced rumours between now and the official line-up announcement at the end of May/beginning of June, allowing festival-goers to see who is playing long before the bands are formally announced - keep your eyes on the Glastonbury 2010 rumours, updated as we receive information.
