More entertainment has been announced for Latitude Festival which takes place at Henham Park Estate, Suffolk from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th July 2010.
In the Literary Arena Jez Butterworth, Billy Bragg, and Mark Thomas will discuss the subject of 'Identity' with Emily Woof, Jennie Rooney, Richard Herring, Bruno Vincent, and Craig Taylor also confirmed to appear over the weekend, as the comperes for the Literary Arena - Joel Dommett, Joe Bor, Mark Olver, Roisin Conaty, James Acaster, Wendy Wason, and Josh Widdicombe. The Literary Salon will present 'The Man Who Stopped The Desert' telling the documentary drama story of Yacouba Sawadogo.
The Comedy Arena once again holds the Latitude New Act of the Year award and the nominees up for this year's accolade have been announced as Lewis Costello, Eric Lambert, Ivo Graham, James Acaster, Romish Ranganathan, and Inel Tomlinson.
New additions to the Cabaret Arena line-up include Millie and Tillie, Delete the Banjax, Jessica Ransom, And The Devil May Drag You Under late night cabaret with Dusty Limits, Fancy Chance, Lucifire, Sarah-Louise Young, and Pippa the Ripper. Plus Vikki Stone and the Flashbacks, Ophelia Bitz, and the New Year's Eve Club who will be partying towards the final countdown.
New Theatre additions include 'The Start of Something' presented by Circus Space the UK's National Centre for Circus Arts in the Theatre Arena, and the Cambridge Touring Theatre present their romp through the world of Robin Hood, Friar Tuck, the Sheriff of Nottingham and Maid Marian in the woodland setting of the Outdoor Theatre.
The Film & Music Arena will see Turner Prize winner Martin Creed performing with his band, and continuing the fashion theme Birds Eye View present 'Fashion Loves Film' bringing fashion to the screen, and there's also a screening of 'The One & Only Herb Maguire'.
Over in the Cabaret Arena at Pandora's Playground festival goers can experience mythical creatures, costume and installation all weekend with the Pantheonic Empire's presentation Zebraworld where they can become a part of ancient worship, procession and workshops, or perhaps have a game of Love Calculator the theatrical game for 8 people. The Playground is also home to Barbara and Yogashwara's 'Safe Space' comedy show an intimate show that seats an audience of 4.
The Faraway Forest decorated by Imogen Hammond, film and music video set designer will see the Central Saint Martins Fashion Communication with Promotion course present 'The Faraway Fashion Studio'. The House of blueeyes will be hosting the bacchanalian forest of freedom with high priestess Johnny blueeyes offering festival goers a chance to get married under the stars at the Fantasy Ball joined by theatrical menaces Les Enfants Terribles and cabaret ringleader Duckie. David's Glamour Mask Workshop, Duckie Pop-up Mask Workshop, and Native Faces all offer face covering solutions over the weekend for Sunday's decadent masked ball.
Musical additions include The Lavish Lounge line-up expanding with Jarmean?, Rebecca Hollweg , and Evi Vine added to the bill. The Lake Stage meanwhile adds Eleanor Lou who will open The Lake Stage, Rachel Furner, Samuel Chase , and The Agitator. Once the bands have finished for the day in The Sunrise Arena the party starts with a different DJ set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening with Bellaza (DJ Set), My Lad (DJ Set), and Ruckspin (DJ Set).
Those arriving on Thursday to pitch their tents can look forward to an array of evening entertainment from Nigel Kennedy taking on the work of jazz pioneer Duke Ellington, Tom Jones in the woods, La Belle Reve featuring Quidams first performance piece, to theatre including a performance of Nabakov's 'It's About Time' and the RSC's vision of 'The Thirteen Midnight Challenges of Angelus'.
Exclusive to Latitude is the bizarre and twisted whodunnit, 'Les Enfants Terribles' and 'The Vaudevillains'. Authors in the Literary Arenainclude Jackie Kay, Jennie Rooney, Louise Stern, Howard Jacobson, Robert Forster and another annual instalment Robin Ince's Book Club.
Poetry comes from Luke Wright, John Osborne, Matt Harvey, Martin Figura, Byron Vincent, Alex Gwyther, Sabrina Mahfouz and Rosy Carrick and the popular SLAM poetry event with Steve Larkin.
The four music arenas will play host to more than 100 acts include Obelisk, The Word Arena, Sunrise Arena and The Lake Stage have line-up that includes Florence and The Machine, Belle and Sebastian, and Vampire Weekend headlining, as well as performances by Empire Of The Sun, The National, The xx, Grizzly Bear, The Maccabees, Rodrigo y Gabriela, James, Richard Hawley, The Horrors, Jonsi, Laura Marling, Hockey, Mumford & Sons, Corinne Bailey Rae, with many more acts still to be announced.
