According to The Sun newspaper, (here), Coldplay are one of the headliners at this year's Glastonbury Festival and reports they will be appearing on the Saturday night.

Coldplay (Pyramid Stage, Saturday)
The article says that Saturday will be headlined by Coldplay who return to the Festival to headline for the first time since 2005. The article suggests that the band, who are currently working on a new album, "this week the rockers finally put pen to paper on the deal."

Coldplay fans have been expecting Chris Martin and co. to return to Glastonbury this year ever since May last year when festival organiser Michael Eavis speaking on BBC radio station 6 Music predicted the band would be back for 2011. Speaking to presenter Lauren Laverne who hosted her show live from Worthy Farm in Pilton before last year's festival, the Worthy farmer said, "They've played four or five times already but they'll be back next year, I'm sure."

Yesterday Festival organiser Emily Eavis also confirmed via twitter, at around midnight last night, that The Rolling Stones would not be appearing at the Festival this year. The newspaper indicates that a source had told them that the Festival were hoping to have The Rolling Stones play at the Somerset Festival, which could mean that Coldplay were being kept in reserve if the deal fell through. The newspaper article says:
But after mulling over the deal for the past three months, the veterans have turned down the chance.

A source said: "Getting the Stones to Glastonbury has been high on Michael Eavis's list of priorities for a long time. He came really really close this time round.

"He came up with an incredibly tempting offer and Mick and the rest of the band were considering it closely but they ultimately decided to turn it down
."
No acts have been officially confirmed by Festival organisers for the line-up for 2011, and no confirmation that Coldplay will top the billing on Saturday. As usual eFestivals bring you the very best-sourced rumours, allowing festival-goers to see who is playing long before the bands are formally announced - keep your eyes on the Glastonbury 2011 rumours, updated as we receive information.

Tickets have sold out for this summer's Glastonbury Festival which runs for five full days from Wednesday 22nd until Sunday 26th June 2011 across a 1000 hectares (2470 acres) of beautiful countryside at Worthy Farm, Somerset. Resales of unwanted tickets are expected at some point in April.
