The Darkness for Download

The Darkness are back with the original line-up, and will be appearing as special guests to Def Leppard on the opening night of this summer's Download.

This performance - with the original line up of Justin Hawkins, Dan Hawkins, Ed Graham and Frankie Poullain - will mark the band's first festival appearance since splitting up in 2006.

"The idea of playing Download terrifies us." frontman Justin Hawkins said. He continued, "We played in an early slot on the main stage in 2003 and we were frightened then. It's reassuring to know that nothing has changed. On a serious note it's the most rockest of festivals and the perfect place for us to begin the next phase of our journey."

Also added to the Download bill today are Funeral For A Friend, Plain White T's, Kvelertak, Framing Hanley, and Hyro Da Hero .

Deff Leppard, System of a Down, and Linkin Park will headline, with Pendulum, Korn, Alter Bridge, Disturbed, Frank Turner, Bring Me The Horizon, Bowling for Soup, Madina Lake, All That Remains, Turisas, The Devil Wears Prada, Cheap Trick, Black Stone Cherry, Thin Lizzy, Skunk Anansie, Danzig, The Cult, The Gaslight Anthem, Hollywood Undead, Thin Lizzy, Black Veil Brides, Buckcherry, Twisted Sister, Down, Duff McKagans Loaded, Clutch, Bullet For My Valentine, Rob Zombie, Avenged Sevenfold and more, with new acts still to be announced. Weekend arena tickets with 3 nights camping are priced at £170, a five nights camping weekend ticket is priced at £180 and offers access to the Download camp site from midday Wednesday June 8th 2011, and a weekend only ticket without camping is priced at £140.
