eFestivals can reveal that Nik Turner one of the founding members of space rock pioneers Hawkwind brings his new band Nik Turner's Outriders of Apocalypse to this year's September Alchemy Festival as Saturday night headliner on the Liberty Stage.

Space Ritual (Avalon Stage, Sunday)
Nik Turner's Outriders of Apocalypse show takes its musical inspiration from South American culture dating from 10,000 BC to 2,012 and relates aspects of this culture to the typical themes and characters of world mythology.

Like Darth Vader orchestrated by Gil Evans, the Space Jazz Funk of the Outriders pulls together the music that has inspired Nik over the years, further shaped by his journeys to ancient sites in Mexico, Egypt, and the lands of the Celts.

The Outriders brings together a core group of musicians drawn from bands that Nik has played with over the years including Hawkwind, Inner City Unit and The Nik Turner Band. This group is augmented by an array of performers bring an eclectic mix of instrumentation to the music, including brass, strings and percussion. Dancers bring to life stories from across space and time.

In other news Nik will also be playing the 2011 Glastonbury Festival with a 40th anniversary celebratory group of musicians who performed with Hawkwind at that band's first performance at the festival in 1971.

Also confirmed for the festival held at Scholey Park, 1 mile from Coningsby & Tattershall, Lincoln in Lincolnshire from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th September 2011 are Zen Bicycle Band, Deviant Species, Scorb, Squid Inc, BelleBlue, Zetan Spore, and Lunarsonic.

They join Here and Now have been confirmed as Friday headliners, with Zion Train headlining Sunday. Other acts confirmed include The Monster Ceilidh Band, Tarantism, Akahum, ZubZub, Sprocket, New Groove Formation, The Horn the Hunt, Flutatious, and Lorraine. No other acts have been confirmed.

The Liberty, Philosophers Stone and Mushroom stages will all be back offering live acts, festival favourites, and DJs, with a few surprises thrown in for luck. The Psychedelic Breakfast Crew who have been part of the dance party scene for a number of years now are expected to return providing a unique setting for all to have a good time, kick back and relax and have a damn good boogie.

Alchemy is a small family friendly festival that continues to grow and grow. It features a diverse range of music, but most music tastes are catered for someplace or other on the site.

Early bird tickets are available priced at £50 for an adult weekend ticket. An under 16 ticket is priced at £12. Under 5's are free and don't require a ticket. A car parking ticket is priced at £8, and a live in vehicle pass is priced at £20. To buy tickets, click here.

The festival will also include a bubble tent, and circus area with fire shows, jugglers, poi and many other oddities! The site will have many works of art and sculptures, stalls, more food traders than last year, tarot readers and communal fire pits, and every day will be a dress fancy day. Gremlin Trikes will be providing Sherpa services to and from the car park.

There will be a large children's area at Alchemy containing circus skills, workshops, bubbles, face painting, shows, talks and performances. There will even be a children's open mic. Everything in the childrens area will be free. The festival aims to be as green as possible and support fair trade, and hopes to have a local cider company on site selling homemade cider and mead.
