final additions confirmed for Reading & Leeds Festivals

Alternative Stage, Silent Arena DJs, stage comperes, and more

The final additions to The Alternative Stage, and also more late night entertainment has been announced for both Reading & Leeds festivals.

The comperes for the weekend have been announced as Huw Stephens for the Main Stage at Reading Festival with Colin Murray and Gill Mills at Leeds, Mike Davies will host the Lock Up Stage at Reading with Gazz Snowdon doing the honours at Leeds.

The latest Alternative Stage additions at Reading are Paul Chowdhry, Tom Stade, Jarred Christmas, Wayne Deakin, Michael Fabbri, and Mike Bubbins.

Set to appear on the Alternative Stage at Leeds are Dave Fulton, and Gordon Southern.

There will be also be screenings of the apocalyptic comedy film 'Kaboom' from cult director Gregg Araki, as well as the documentary about branding, advertising and product placement 'The Greatest Movie Ever Sold' written and directed by Morgan Spurlock, of Supersize Me fame.

At both Reading & Leeds, the short films from writer/director Luke Snellin 'Mixtape' and 'Disco' will be shown.

At both sites the Silent Arena will host DJs including Steve Lamacq (DJ set), Bethan Elfyn (DJ Set), The Vinyl Vendettas, Huw Stephens, My Ex Boyfriends Records, Jen Long, Fingers and Thumbs (Reading), and Silent Arena DJs (Reading &Leeds).

The full line-up has also been confirmed for Transgressive Records take over of The Alternative Stage at Leeds. Saturday's line-up begins at 8.45pm with Transgressive Records DJs, and will see performances from Dry The River, Rockfeedback DJs, Pete And The Pirates, Transgressive & paradYse DJs, and Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit. The night will be topped by Goldierocks, and special guests Pulled Apart By Horses (DJ Set).

On Sunday Rockfeedback DJs kick things off at 8.45pm, then Three Trapped Tigers, Transgressive & paradYse DJs, Gold Panda, Becoming Real, and SBTRKT lead up to headliners Two Door Cinema Club (DJ Set) and more special guest DJs.

Also at Leeds is the all new Relentless Energy Sessions Arena in the village with late night DJ’s over four days from 10pm – 3am and which features Goldierocks, Plastic Thumbs, and Grooverider on Thursday. Plastic Thumbs return on Friday with Duke, and DJ Fresh. On Saturday it's the turn of Ben Casey, Plastic Thumbs, and Baskerville. With Plastic Thumbs, and Ben Casey returning on the final night with Bugs In The Attic.

The line-up at this year's festival includes headliners My Chemical Romance, The Strokes, and Pulp. Also confirmed are Thirty Seconds To Mars, The Offspring, Deftones, Rise Against, Bring Me The Horizon, New Found Glory, The National, Jimmy Eat World, Madness, Two Door Cinema Club, Seasick Steve, The Pigeon Detectives, The Joy Formidable, Elbow, Interpol, Friendly Fires, Enter Shikari, The View, Frank Turner, Taking Back Sunday, Beady Eye, White Lies, Noah and the Whale, The Vaccines, Metronomy, Patrick Wolf, The Naked & Famous, Jane's Addiction, Crystal Castles, Bombay Bicycle Club, Everything Everything, The Kills, 2manydjs, The Streets, Death From Above 1979, Panic At The Disco, Warpaint, Chapel Club, The Horrors, The Midnight Beast, and Peter Doherty, Mark Thomas, Tim Minchin, Henry Rollins, Lee Nelson, and more.

AThe twin festivals take place on the bank holiday weekend, from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th August. Reading Festival takes place at Little Johns Farm, Richfield Avenue, Reading, Berkshire, and Leeds Festival takes place at Bramham Park, Leeds, West Yorkshire.

A weekend ticket is priced at £192.50, Friday tickets are priced at £82.50, Saturday and Sunday tickets for Reading have sold out. An early entry (Thursday) ticket is priced at £15, lockers are priced at £15, and a campervan pass is priced at £40. Over 18's wristband will be optional, but allow those that look young to not have to carry ID around all the time.

Children under 13 (12 and under) are admitted free but MUST be accompanied by a ticket holding adult. Please note there is no separate children's area at this event, and eFestivals considers this an event not really suitable for small children.
