East Anglian rockers, The Darkness, are playing a special woodland concert for the summer, appearing at Thetford Forest, in Suffolk on Saturday 14th July as the first act to be announced for The Forestry Commission's 2012 Forest Tours where acts perform in spectacular woodland locations around the country.

The Darkness
The Darkness will be bringing their unique brand of glammed-up rock and outrageous stage costumes along with rock anthems including 'Love is only a Feeling', 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love' and 'Growing on Me' to the woods next summer in what will be a local show for the band.

The band - brothers Justin and Dan Hawkins, Frankie Poullain and Ed Graham - are currently enjoying a successful UK indoor tour following live sets at Download and Sonisphere festivals during the summer.

Commenting on the date, lead vocalist Justin Hawkins said, "I have often walked through Thetford Forest, enchanted by bird-song, mesmerised by the rhythm of nesting squirrels. My urge to fill the trees with music of my own can no longer be denied. Thetford has provided The Darkness with much enchantment and inspiration over the years. It's time we gave something bark."

Tickets will be priced at £36, go on sale at 9am this Friday 25th November 2011, and eFestivals will have tickets to buy them then.

A woodland glade in Thetford Forest will be temporarily transformed into a concert venue. With full catering and bar facilities, and income generated from ticket sales is spent on improving the local forest for both people and wildlife.

Forestry Commission Live Music introduces some music fans to a woodland environment for the first time. Many of them come back to enjoy the beautiful surroundings for healthy and fun outdoor recreation including walking, mountain biking and watching wildlife.
