Tickets are on sale today, Thursday 1st December with organisers predicting a huge demand for early bird bookings following this year's record early sell-out in May, three months before the event.
Festival Director Alan Surtees said: "This is going to be an amazing four days of music. The full line up offers something for everyone whether they are fans of traditional music or the new wave of folk.
We know many people chose Shrewsbury for the friendly atmosphere and the fact that they can enjoy everything the festival has to offer on one site that's central to the town.
We were surprised at how quickly tickets sold for 2011 so we really would advise people to book early to avoid being disappointed."
The Shrewsbury Folk Festival was formerly known as the Bridgnorth Folk Festival, and is a four day event blending a tradition of folk music and dance and offers musical and cultural diversity in a family friendly format. In 2012 the festival takes place from Friday 24th until Monday 27th August.
Early bird tickets (bought before Wednesday 29th February 2012) are priced at £108.50 for a full weekend ticket. A youth (aged 12-17 years) weekend ticket is priced at £66.50. A child (aged 5-11 years) weekend ticket is priced at £20.50. Children aged four and under go free. Day tickets start at £32.50 for adults, and there are also family tickets priced at £313.50 available. Camping is available to all weekend ticket holders at a price of £20 per adult.
