According to the Daily Express, (here), the remaining members of Pink Floyd are set to reunite and perform at the closing ceremony of London 2012 Olympics in August this year.
The Express quotes a source as saying, "It's long been made clear it would take something very special to get Pink Floyd back together again and it doesn't get any bigger than the Olympics. Like Sir Paul McCartney, (who is tipped to open the Games), they have been a major part of the nation's culture over the past 40 years and it will be very fitting that they're involved when London is on show to the world. It's hoped everything can be confirmed in the coming weeks."
The group last performed as a reunited group for the first time in over 24 years at the Live 8 concert in 2005, ahead of keyboardist Richard Wright's death in 2008. The newspaper reveals that the surviving Pink Floyd members David Gilmour, Roger Waters, and Nick Mason, are set to reunite and perform this summer, although it's surely pretty unlikely.
The London 2012 Festival will be a 12-week summer long UK-wide cultural celebration of arts and creativity that opens on Tuesday 21 June 2012, Midsummer's Day, and runs until the last day of the Paralympic Games on Wednesday 9th September 2012 with an opening and closing ceremony - Underworld have already been announced as Music Directors for the Opening Ceremony taking place on Friday 27th July.
