Athlete have been revealed as the new headliners for Lakefest, the family friendly festival held at Croft Farm Waterpark, nr Tewkesbury.

Athlete
The original Saturday night headliners Levellers had to pull out after their fiddle player, Jon Sevink, needed surgery.

Lee Martin, one of the organisers of the two day festival said, "We are delighted to have signed Athlete to play the headline slot, vacated by Levellers following an injury to their fiddle player. With only 3 weeks to go until the event we knew it was going to be tough and had spoken to a number of potential replacement acts. Athlete were the stand-out option and we are grateful to them for agreeing to play. They have a fantastic reputation for their live performances and have been one of the biggest bands recent times - we feel honoured that they are headlining our festival."

Lakefest is a new event that has been born from a local traditional cider festival in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th May 2012. The organisers are keen to remain friendly and non-corporate without sacrificing first class facilities and entertainment.

The line-up includes EMF, Erica, Kickback, Rainy and the Dust, 3 Daft Monkeys, Toploader, Reef, Tim Parkes, Avert Francis, Missing Andy, Smoke Feathers, Miles and Erica, Chesney Hawkes, The Roving Crows, and Dodgy.

The festival aims to be friendly, keeping true to its slightly hippie West Country roots with a mix of beers, ciders and lagers from around the county. There will be plenty on offer for children too and the Leisure and Water Park are available to festival goers whilst they are there.

Highlights include a great festival line-up, a laser display on the lake, street entertainers, arts and crafts workshops and of course the rinky dinks. The bands selected are folky but also have the ability to really get people up dancing.

The festival has been built on an open approach with a sense that everyone counts. Too many festivals these days have become generic and sterile. There aren't many festivals where the organisers publish their mobile telephone numbers on the website and are available for all to call whenever. Hence the organisers never want to grow their festival beyond 5000 people. They are keen to attract nice people who appreciate the smaller things in life.

Dogs are permitted on leads, people camping are allowed to bring a limited amount of alchol with them, but alcohol is not permitted into the main festival area, only the camping fields.

An early bird adult camping ticket is priced at £79, a child (aged 11-15 years) camping ticket is priced at £49. Tcikets iwthout camping are priced at £69 for adults, and £39 for children (11-15) Ticket. Children (aged 0-10 years) can come in for free, but they must be accompanied by an adult ticket holder. A campervan ticket is priced at £30 or £50 with electric hook up. Day tickets will not be available.
