Former lead guitarist and vocalist of The Clash, Mick Jones, has been announced as the final act at Strummer of Love, a one-off festival for 5,000 to commemorate the late Joe Strummer.

The Justice Tonight Band (feat. Mick Jones, Pete Wylie & The Farm) will be closing proceedings on the Clash City Rockers stage on Sunday 19th August, with a set that will give fans given the rare opportunity to experience some of The Clash's most legendary songs in a live setting.

Speaking recently of his relationship with his much-missed friend and Clash cohort, Joe Strummer, Mick Jones said, "Joe is with me all the time. I can feel him in so many ways. It’s something that's with me a lot of the time."

Festival Director, Trish Whelan, added, "Mick has relentlessly been a huge supporter of the Strummerville mission, and we couldn't be more honoured to have him close Strummer of Love. We think it will mean a lot to all of Joe’s fans and will obviously be an incredibly fitting tribute."

Other recent additions to the festival include a very special 'Art Barter' which will be presented on iconic British artist Sir Peter Blake's Art Bus, and exhibit works inspired by the late Joe Strummer and visitors will be invited to bid on pieces using anything except money.

Featured exhibits will include work from Bob Gruen, Mick Jones, Claude Simonon, Gaye Black, Martin Glover, Paul Fryer, Rodney Graham, Gordon McHarg, Akiko Comenachi, Kitty Finer, John McLean and James Putnam.

Strummer of Love will also be displaying a selection of items from Mick Jones’ outstanding personal collection. A presentation from the Mick Jones Rock & Roll Public Library will sit inside 'Strummer School', the museum housing some amazing and unique articles from the Joe Strummer archive.

'Speaking Suppers' is another announced addition to the event's activities. Created by Dubliners Victoria Mary Clarke and Sarah Leahy, the suppers are an inclusive opportunity to practice the art of speech in front of an audience of diners, in a relaxed, fun, informal setting. Friends, family and fans of Joe are being invited to share their thoughts, feelings, memories and stories about Joe, in a way that allows everybody to enjoy them.

Brothers, the infamous cider people from Somerset and long time Strummerville supporters will also be bringing their original and legendary 1995 Glastonbury bar to Strummer of Love.

The event, held at a secret location in the middle of the Somerset countryside over the weekend of Friday 17th to Sunday 19th August, will mark the 10th anniversary of the death of Strummer, the legendary Clash frontman.

Fly, Bastille, The Whip, Joshua Moses, Fionn Regan, The Jim Jones Revue, Crazy P, Channel One Soundsystem, Talisman, Fit Les, Hollie Cook, The Time And Space Machine, Josh Kumra, Ska Levin, Kate Tempest, Yob, Luca C & Brigante, Guy Williams, Parmas Violets, Matices Latinos, Dark Moon, Atlantics, The Validators, The Joker And The Thief, The Supernovas, Beans On Toast, and Ben Folke Thomes. Attendee Frank Turner said, "The Clash to me are the archetypal punk band, they laid the blueprint for pretty much everything that has followed. I never met Joe but he's that unusual thing - an iconic figure who was also completely on a level, not aloof. The Strummerville guys are friends and collaborators of mine and it was a no-brainer for me to play the festival."

The line-up will comprise of friends and fans of Joe's paying respect to the influence that he has had on their lives and music. Internationally renowned artists are joined by a host of rising stars, many of them supported by the work of Strummerville.

There will be two main stages, one outdoor and one inside a huge marquee. Bunting and flags will be flyings all round the festival site. All bars will be reasonably priced and where possible all food outlets will use ethically sourced ingredients.

For the kids there will be an area dedicated to them, with activities to amuse them when their not on your shoulders listening to your favourite bands (ear protection will be available on site)

Festival goers can also expect stalls selling ethically sourced fair trade food and outlets highlighting a range of arts, crafts, Strummer memorabilia, alternative therapies, healing and community activism, a communal eating area, lots of space to camp and a patrolled car park, over looking the site.

The early bird offer has ended, a ticket is now priced £175. A childrens ticket (aged 13 - 17 years)is priced at £77. Children aged under 12 years go free.
