A tweet, (here), from Coventry City Council in the last hour broke the news saying:
" #godiva2012‬ has been cancelled. Really sorry but finally beaten by devastating weather. Torch Relay event is still on. More details to come.."
Freak weather conditions including heavy rain, thunderstorms and hailstones the size of golf balls battered Coventry and Warwickshire yesterday with 30mm (1.2in) of rain falling in the space of three hours across the morning and lunchtime, making it impossible for organiser to hold the event this weekend.

The FREE event is held annually and was set to attract over 85,000 people to an eclectic mix of rock, hip-hop, folk, comedy, poetry, and world music. In addition to live musical the free and ticketless event was also set to host an annual carnival, a fairground and many more family and community based activities and entertainment.
