Australian Pink Floyd incorporates a psychedelic light show modelled on the light shows used by Pink Floyd during their 1987 and 1994 world tours. The show includes a round screen with intelligent lights arranged around its perimeter. During a concert, movies and animations are displayed on-screen, complementing the band's light show. Inflatables such as the pig used by Pink Floyd during the Division Bell Tour and Skippy - the band's own giant pink kangaroo are frequently employed in the band's shows. At the Live From Jodrell Bank show on Saturday 6th July the projections will be beamed onto The University of Manchester's 76 metre Lovell telescope. The Australian Pink Floyd commented "The music and spirit of Pink Floyd very much embodies ambition and a sense of wonder at the expanses that lie within and without us all. Throughout the band's work there are references to space, the planets and the known - and unknown - Universe around us. Pink Floyd have often been described as a British icon and this is something which, surely, Jodrell Bank also qualifies as. The Australian Pink Floyd Show are delighted to have the opportunity to perform some of this wonderful music against such an amazing backdrop. For us to be a footnote in the Jodrell Bank history is truly an honour."

Tickets will priced at £35, and go on sale at 9am on Friday, 22nd February. eFestivals will have links for you to buy them then.

As well as providing an amazing backdrop the telescope will also be serving a secondary purpose as the worlds most incredible projection screen! Throughout the day there will be experiments and workshops along with free access to the visitor centre – and in the evening the acts will perform. Jodrell Bank is brought to you by the creative minds behind Kendal Calling festival, The Warehouse Project and Ear To The Ground.
