In an interview with BBC's Newsbeat, (here), Glastonbury Festival boss Michael Eavis has revealed he already has next year's headliners pencilled in and that people probably wouldn't be surprised.
Michael Eavis, tells the BBC, "I don't believe that we can top what we did this year, the weather was perfect. The Stones were absolutely brilliant, all the other stuff we're doing in the southeast corner was absolutely fantastic. I'm not going to say we can do it better 'cause we can't, that was the ultimate festival this year! Downhill all the way now. I've had 44 years of an incredible career and we're still milking the old cows as well."
The Glastonbury Festival organiser ,who books the headliners himself, went on to say about the headliners, "Pretty obvious isn't it? There aren't many left. It's the process of elimination isn't it? I think we've got three or four really good ones lined up for next year and we're sorting out 2015 as well. I take the liberty of booking the headliners myself."
Eavis also told the NME, (here) that they are three acts that have never played the Glastonbury Festival before.
He is quoted as saying, "Next year's headliners are more or less in place. They're three bands who haven't played Glastonbury, and that's important. There aren't many bands left who haven't played the festival, and before we run out I'd like to persuade the ones on my wish list to come down. I think I've managed that with these three."
Talking of this year he repeated, "The whole festival was perfect - even the weather. That was pure magic. But we're not going to give up trying to make the next one better. I've a team of about 20 people who book the young musicians and I look after booking the headliners. That's such a privilege and I hope I've done a worthwhile job if these three bands are confirmed. I hope to do that soon."
Eavis explained to the Metro, (here) that, "There aren’t many bands left who haven’t played the festival, and before we run out I’d like to persuade the ones on my wish list to come down. I think I’ve managed that with these three."
Information that eFestivals has had at the beginning was that Eavis had Elbow, Fleetwood Mac, and Depeche Mode lined-up to top the bill and it's likely that at least one of these acts will headline next year.
Eavis has in previous years said he has the headliners lined-up, however the acts he has been after haven't confirmed and often haven't been the final headliners.
