Prince ducks the question

it's still not clear if he'll be at Glastonbury Festival in June

Having arrived in London yesterday, Prince held his much-anticipated press conference at Lianne La Havas's gaff before going off to play a show in Camden that not many people saw, sort-of defeating the point of doing it.

When journalists tried to pin him down over the much-rumoured suggestion that he might play Glastonbury this year, he ducked the question. He reportedly said he was trying to ‘‘slow time down’’ and live in the moment. ‘‘I can’t think of the festival now.’’

So does that mean he's playing, or not? eFestivals has asked around a few people who've got face-to-face with Prince in the past, and they tended to say that he's normally straight forwards and open to questions put to him - which suggests that Prince might have ducked the question to avoid admitting he'll be in Pilton come June. However, it might just be that he was feeling pushed for time with that gig to go off and play last night.

eFestivals remains unsure as to whether Glastonbury will have Prince, with the other name most strongly in the frame for the Saturday night headlining slot being one of the biggest-ever selling bands, the Eagles.

The UK's music journos are exposing their age just a bit too much at the moment, with their obsessions around an act that has been contemporarily as-good-as musically irrelevant for over 20 years. We're guessing that the next of their aged-obsessions they'll try to force on you will be any of this lot. It makes you shudder, doesn't it?
(If it doesn't, can we suggest a hearing-aid? :P)

Arcade Fire have already been confirmed as the Friday night headliner, while earlier this year eFestivals revealed that Kasabian are lined-up as the Sunday night headliner. For an idea of other acts on the bill for this year - some having self-confirmed while some are heavily rumoured - check out the Glastonbury 2014 line-up & rumours page.

Tickets for Glastonbury have completely sold out, although there is likely to be a resale of returned tickets in the spring. We'll let you know beforehand when the re-sale will be. For more details about buying tickets including the registration process (necessary prior to any ticket sale) click here.

This summer's sold out event will run for five full days from  Wednesday 25th until Sunday 29th June 2014 across over a 1,000 acres of countryside at Worthy Farm, Somerset and, as ever, includes a free programme. Once again, the Festival will be raising funds for Oxfam, Wateraid, Greenpeace and a host of local charities and causes (raising millions each year).

Expect something like 2,000 performances at 50 or so venues including music, cabaret, theatre, circus, a fantastic Kidz area, poetry, green crafts and information and loads, loads more ... much more than just the music, so make sure you check it all out!

Help us to help you - if you hear of a band that's playing, please let us know
