Stetsons at the ready, country music legend Dolly Parton  will be appearing at Glastonbury Festival after the '9 to 5' singer revealed today on her Twitter account that she will be appearing on the Sunday.

She tweeted, "I’m incredibly excited to FINALLY announce that the #BlueSmokeWorldTour is coming to @GlastoFest on June 29th! ;) Stay tuned for more info…"

The Tweet was then re-tweeted by Festival organiser Emily Eavis making this the second official confirmation alongside Arcade Fire.

The day would suggest Dolly could be the slated for the traditional Sunday legend slot (a position taken by fellow collaborator Kenny Rogers this year).

The main Pyramid Stage on Sunday has also previously seen acts like Don McLean, Willie Nelson, Paul Simon, Johnny Cash, Shirley Bassey, Neil Diamond and Brian Wilson. Although with an artist of her stature, if Dolly does appear she could easily be one of the headliners, and certainly fits organiser Michael Eavis' statement that of the five biggest acts in the world Glastonbury have three of them.

Dolly Parton's 45-plus year career includes 40 studio albums, five live albums, and twenty-four compilation albums. During her last tour in 2011, Dolly performed for record-breaking attendances in both Europe and Australia, surpassing her previous attendance records. In 2008, Dolly performed 17 European shows to over 170,000 fans, surpassing her then-best 2007 European tour, where she played 21 shows for over 140,000 people. Each of these treks grossed in the tens of millions of dollars and established Dolly as Europe’s favorite and most successful country artist.

Dolly has written more than 4,000 songs, had numerous number one hits including '9 To 5', 'Jolene', and 'I Will Always Love You', and as well as her music, Dolly has her own theme park called Dollywood, in Tennessee.

She also runs the Dollywood Foundation for underprivileged children, and has  launched the Dolly Parton Imagination Library across America, Canada and now across Europe. It gives every pre-school child a book each month from the time he or she is born until the child reaches kindergarten.
