The Pogues have announced a special gig this summer performing amongst the trees at Thetford Forest, Nr Brandon, Suffolk on Saturday 14th June as part of The Forestry Commission's 2014 Forest Tours.
Organisers announced, "Presenting a compelling hybrid of folk, punk and rock, The Pogues made their mark on the British music scene by producing a string of classic albums including ‘Rum, Sodomy & The Lash’, ‘If I Should Fall From Grace With God’ and ‘Peace and Love’. Their innovative records, played with traditional instruments and electric guitars, created captivating music especially due to the song-writing talent of inimitable frontman Shane MacGowan.
"Revered for their legendary live performances, the band regularly headlines festivals across the world yet the Forest Live date will be their first appearance in the East Anglian region in well over a decade."
Tickets are priced at £41.25 (including £3.75 booking fee) and go on sale at 9am this Friday 28th March and eFestivals will have links to buy them then.
A woodland glade in Thetford Forest will be temporarily transformed into a concert venue. With full catering and bar facilities, and income generated from ticket sales is spent on improving the local forest for both people and wildlife.
Forestry Commission Live Music introduces some music fans to a woodland environment for the first time. Many of them come back to enjoy the beautiful surroundings for healthy and fun outdoor recreation including walking, mountain biking and watching wildlife.
18% of the country's woods and forests are managed by the Forestry Commission. In England, more than 50% of the population live within 10km of a Forestry Commission managed wood or forest.
