US band Pixies are the fourth major act announced asEden Sessions headliners, topping the bill at Cornwall's Eden Project on Wednesday 9th July.

Making the announcement today, Rita Broe, Eden’s Marketing Director, said, "For nearly 30 years Pixies have been one of the most revered rock bands in the world and have inspired a galaxy of other top artists.

"We are massively excited to be able to welcome them to Eden. It feels like Pixies and the Sessions is a marriage made in rock heaven. With their addition to an already massive bill, this promises to be our best Sessions season ever."

Formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1986, Pixies are Black Francis (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Joey Santiago (lead guitar), and David Lovering on drums, and will be joined by touring bassist Paz Lenchantin on the band’s summer UK/European dates. Last September, Pixies released EP-1 and then EP-2 in January, the band’s first collection of new music in more than 20 years.

A Sessions ticket entitles the ticket holder to visit the Eden Project either on the day of the concert or the day after. All proceeds from the events will go to the Eden Trust.

Pixies join Ellie Goulding (July 8 – sold out), Elbow (July 14) and Dizzee Rascal (June 21) on the bill with more headliners to be announced soon.
