The Theatre and Circus areas of Glastonbury Festival have announced the first of acts that will be entertaining thousands of Festival goers daily away from the music stages.

This year they'll have the chance to see a trash Aussie cabaret of burlesque with balls, and high-flying circus bandits with Briefs: The Second Coming , watch the biggest Airband in the world Airnadette perform 'We Will Dub You', see the world's only sword-swallowing acrobat Aerial Manx, be entertained by a troupe of rescued circus children from Kathmandu in Circus Kathmandu, and laugh at how maths and theatre collide in Marcus du Sautoy and Victoria Gould's new show X&Y.

Plus Glastonbury debuts from comic Matt Richardson, and former children’s laureate Michael Rosen, and Festival regulars The Cuban Brothers bring their own anarchic brand of funk to entertain the crowds.

The Theatre and Circus field are home to 400 acts over the Festival with over 3,500 performers putting on 1,500 shows in three days on the eastern side of the Festival site.

Organiser Haggis McLeod  told the Western Daily Press, (here), "It's always a challenge to get people to come over from the main stages and all the music, but it's the best thing when you see people wander into this part of the festival and their jaws drop and they are straight on the phone to their mates to tell them to get over here and see what they are seeing."

Tickets have sold out for this year's Festival which happens over five full days from  Wednesday 25th until Sunday 29th June 2014 across over a 1,000 acres of beautiful countryside at Worthy Farm, Somerset will host Friday headliners Arcade Fire, and Kasabian who close the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday. Other names announced are Jack White, Dolly Parton, Skrillex, James Blake, MGMT, Richie Hawtin,Disclosure will headline a night on the West Holts stage, Blondie, Lily Allen, The Black Keys, Lana Del Rey, Warpaint, The Wailers, Elbow, Sensational Space Shifters ft Robert Plant, Massive Attack, Pixies, Ed Sheeran, De La Soul, MIA, Rudimental, Jurassic 5, and more.

There are still thousands of acts to announce! The full line-up will be announced in May.
