Organisers of the 5th OsFest - Break for the Border have announced the festival will no longer take place over May Bank Holiday weeken, instead it will happen on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August 2014 at Oswestry Showground, in Shropshire.

Mike Scott, Osfest Managing Director, who made the announcement said: “We have taken the decision to change the dates this year for a number of reasons.

"When Osfest started in 2009 we were one of very few festivals on the May Bank Holiday weekend which was our main reason for choosing these dates. More recently other festivals, some major ones and most notably Radio 1’s Big Weekend have moved to the same weekend which is making things increasingly difficult from an organisational aspect. We are now looking for additional acts for the August dates to add to our line-up that is unaffected, other than for Wilkinson who unfortunately cannot appear.

"It is also GCSE and University exam time and with a good percentage of our audience being from this age group, we feel that moving to the early part of the Summer holidays will take away difficult decisions for them when deciding whether to come to Osfest or not.

"And of course let’s not forget the good old British weather. Last year was an exception but the 3 previous years were pretty miserable. An August date should bring warmer and drier weather. All round a move to early August makes sense.

"We apologise for making this change at short notice, however we do believe that Osfest will be bigger and better as a result, keep an eye on the website for further details. Naturally all tickets that have been purchased will be valid for the new dates.”

The festival which offers a range of music and dance acts, both well known and emerging talent will also host the previously announced Union J, Wiley, Wilkinson, Neon Jungle, Luke Friend, Nina Nesbitt, Foxes, and Elyar Fox.

This year the Main Stage will be remaining undercover under a massive Big Top and the Second stage and the rest of the festival, except the DJ and comedy tents, will still be outside so you may still need your wellies.
