Happy Mondays lead the latest acts added to the bill for Split Festival.
Headliners are Dizzee Rascal on Saturday, and Maximo Park and The Cribs on Sunday. Joining them over the weekend of Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August 2014 at Mowbrey Park, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear are Gruff Rhys, Smoove & Turrell, Frankie And The Heartstrings, Bleech, Hyde & Beast, The Lake Poets, The Twilight Sad, School Of Language, Lisbon, and Boy Jumps Ship.
Also confirmed are Punishment of Luxury, Bad Breeding, Lisbon, Lovepark, Nightflowers, Shy Nature, Gallery Circus, Symphonic Pictures, Big Beat Bronson, Lilliput, Kobadelta, Young Liar, Shades, The Sons of Bido Lito, Goy Boy McIlroy, Tissue Culture, Cold Committee, Barry Hyde, Son Of Jack, The Generals, Schultz, Cohesion, Waste Of Space, Iceni, The Firelight Opera, and So What Robot.
Ross Millard, who curates the event, said, "We're delighted to unveil the additions of The Happy Mondays, Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals), Frankie & The Heartstrings, Smoove and Turrell and all the other bands too and we really feel like the atmosphere in Mowbray Park will be positive and fit for a top-notch inner-city boutique music festival. Throw in all the exciting up and coming names on Stages 2 and 3 and it starts to look like the emerging British music scene is descending on Sunderland for two days of exciting wall to wall rock n roll action. I can't wait!"
Tickets are on sale priced at £55 for a weekend ticket, and £33 for a day ticket.
This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
