After taking a year out in 2014 festival organisers have confirmed Solfest's return in 2015 to Tarnside Farm, Tarns, nr Aspatria, in Cumbria.

The three day event will be held from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th August 2015, August bank holiday, as a slightly smaller event but still retaining the key features that have made it so popular over the past 11 years.

The team of volunteers who organise the event are hoping that a smaller event will be easier to manage , and have already started planning meetings but no acts have yet been approached yet.

Tom Kay, one of the Solfest organisers, said to the New & Star (here), "We want to go back to our roots, create a boutique festival, smaller and more intimate, but still a high quality festival.

"It grew and grew and I’m not surprised because it is a good event and festivals have become more mainstream. There will still be an eclectic mix of music for everyone, possibly more so.

"We always planned to come back but we wanted to give some members the chance to rest and have a year off and come back with a fresh look on things, enthused and reinvigorated. We’re still in the planning stage at the moment, we really have not decided a large amount.

“The plan is to make the whole thing less stressful to organise. We are all volunteers and we are doing this for free. There will still be a selection of stages and we will still be family friendly – if anything we will try and make it even more friendly."

The festival which offers seven stages of entertainment with something for everyone includes free camping, free parking (next to your tent), plenty of food from around the world, a licensed bar (or you can bring your own), sculptures, a healing area, adult workshops, craft stalls, walkabout performances and theatre, a baby area, fire performances, an acoustic music session tent, and more.
